Genie 101 : Video Analytics

When first developed analytics required powerful servers with complex infrastructures, widely popular for corporate or government systems.

The past decade has seen the reliability and effectiveness of surveillance video analytics vastly improve, making accessibility of the software gain widespread growth. Developments in camera and server processing technology have allowed for analytics to run on them alone even when running multiple video streams or other applications.

As an accurate surveillance solution analytics can be used by users in a wide variety of environments including airports, bars, retail outlets, stadiums and so on. End users gain invaluable analytical data that can be intelligently used to strengthen business operations, health & safety, personnel management, video evidence retrieval and archiving of relevant information.

The capabilities of Genie’s WISH surveillance systems are significantly boosted with the introduction of its new analytics firmware. Built into Genie’s latest H.265 network recorders from their flagship WISH range. The analytics firmware provides its users’ more reliable information benefiting from the following features:

Analytics Set up
  • Camera Mask – An alarm based event is generated if something is placed over the front of a camera. For example someone’s hand or an object
  • Camera Scene Change – An alarm based event is generated if a cameras field of view suddenly changes – for example, if someone suddenly turns a camera to face a wall.
  • Object Added or Removed from the location – By programming predefined areas, objects either left or added to the region are detected and will generate an alarm. This would be ideal for securing objects of value or areas where items/vehicles shouldn’t be left unattended.

  • Intrusion Detection – Detects when a person or vehicle enters the area. Ideal for monitoring areas normally with a low footfall
  • Line Crossing (A>B) (B>A) (A<>B) – A “tripwire” application that detects moving objects that cross a virtual line, making it possible to automatically trigger an alarm based on an event. Users can set up a maximum of 4 different tripwires, defining the direction they are triggered. This is ideal for monitoring entry and exit points or areas where vehicles/ people should be travelling in a certain direction.

With a user friendly GUI setup is easy, allowing users to select the camera and the intelligence feature they would like to run. Depending on the feature the user can set the parameters they would like to monitor, set trigger times, chose from a video pop up alert, email alert or both. Once settings are saved, the user can watch as the video intelligence takes action on their monitor.

Analytics Set Up

The software helps to highlight the unusual from the ordinary, providing the operator with reliable information that helps identifies suspicious activity. Which in turn helps reaction time and quickly report the incident to a response team or emergency services.

Analytics Alarm Screen

Users will benefit from the support of Genie’s FREE analytics software features when using the combination of H.265 cameras that operate with the 4.1.0 firmware (compatible models listed below) and, NVRs from the flagship WISH range. Creating an intelligent surveillance solution to keep both personnel and assets safe.

Analytics is currently available with the following cameras from Genie’s flagship WISH range: WIP4BV5 Series, WIP4BVL5, WIP4EB5, WIP4EBV5 Series, WIP4VD5, WIP4VDV5 Series.

Genie Eco Ltd. – Mobile Surveillance with Rapid Deployment

Whether it’s for watching over outbuildings, festival events or engineering sites, monitoring vulnerable remote locations is made easier with the Genie Eco Mobile Surveillance Trailer.

Initial developments for the mobile surveillance trailer began in early 2015, with British-born CCTV equipment manufacturer and Distributor – Genie CCTV. Known for their innovations in product development and new CCTV Technologies, Genie built the first Solar & Hydrogen powered prototype which debuted at IFSEC. Throughout 2015/2016 further developments were made to the prototype, along with a mutual partnership with TCP (Taylor Construction Plant Ltd), bringing their ability of supplying the UK with exceptional construction, lighting and compaction equipment.

Phil Clarke, a pioneer in Mobile CCTV installation; became another vital technical solutions contributor to the Prototype Mobile Trailer. With the wealth of experience within Genie CCTV and TCP Ltd and contribution from Phil, the three parties created Genie Eco Ltd. spearheading the Mobile CCTV Trailer business with fresh impetus in environmentally friendly Mobile CCTV Surveillance.

Genie Eco

Genie Eco Ltd provides two versions of the Mobile CCTV trailer that launched in 2016. The two Mobile CCTV units now come as a 110/220 mains unit and a, Mains and Hydrogen Gas powered unit. Using Hydrogen as a source of clean, renewable and accessible energy is quickly becoming universally acknowledged and recognised as a viable alternative to diesel. Offering a low cost operation using Hydrogen Gas bottles that produce up to 2 weeks operation off grid makes this product not only a true alternative but also an environmentally challenging solution in a variety of applications. Hydrogen Gas bottles allow for a  safer and easier fuel replenishment method by only requiring one person to replenish Hydrogen gas bottles and no tools being used, compared to diesel or petrol run generator units. The eco design of the trailer means it is virtually silent in operation, dramatically reducing the impact on the environment and built up areas where local residents may be affected. Providing efficient energy with 0% emissions from point of delivery makes the Genie Eco Mobile CCTV Trailer one of the most eco-friendly surveillance solutions in the market today.

Trailer mast with 360° Camera and Detectors

Both units can be fitted with either a 360º Degree High Definition Pan Tilt and Zoom camera (Pictured) or, with four fixed Mega Pixel cameras. Fitted onto a Hydraulic Tower Mast that can reach up to 9 metres in height. The Mobile CCTV trailer offers the client the assurance of 24/7 commercial monitoring for out of hours security monitoring, with 4 Radio motion detectors fitted to the mast giving early detection to site intrusions. Additional Radio detectors from the same manufacturer are able to be added, giving site owners the benefit to extend their detection zones within a 100 metre radius of the Mobile CCTV Trailer. The 3G/4G Dual SIM telecommunications Router will transmit the camera video transmission from the site to the Monitoring station where intrusions are monitored and acted upon and transacted.

The Eco Mobile Surveillance Trailer is designed to be deployed quickly and easily to remote locations as the complete Trailer weighs under 750kg and thereby not requiring any towing licensed personnel to transport the Trailer. This also offers great benefits to the site owner, if they required to move the trailer around the site at urgent notice. Offering a separate customer control monitoring service (optional), with secure remote monitoring being accessible from your own handset with the free smart phone app, or monitoring via a tablet/PC, this makes an unbeatable system that adds ease and flexibility to the end user’s needs.

Genie CCTV announces Domestic CCTV European Legislation

New Domestic CCTV Legislation for June 2015

“If your CCTV system covers, even partially, any areas beyond the boundaries of your property, such as neighbouring gardens or the street, then it will no longer be exempt from the Data Protection Act (DPA) under the domestic purposes exemption.”

CCTV systems filming even limited views of a public space are now required to be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and will be subject to a number of other requirements such as the use of specific signage. Owners must also be aware that if their system covers an area beyond their home’s boundary they will also be subject to many of the same requirements in terms of the protection and provision of data as larger organisations.

This does not mean that you are breaching the DPA, but it does mean that you are subject to it.
